GTA 6 Developer Rockstar Games Confirms Footage Leak!

Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto) has confirmed the ‘third-party intrusion’ and online leak of 90 gameplay videos. The company took to the microblogging platform, Twitter to give the official statement. In the statement, the company has said that it does not anticipate or expect any long-term impact due to the hacking.

Notably, over 90 gameplay videos of GTA 6 were leaked online by a user named ‘teapotuberhacker’ on GTAForums who posted the videos online and reportedly was involved in the recent Uber data leak. 

The company posted a tweet in which it confirmed the data leak. In the statement, Rockstar Games said, “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.

Talking about the current status the company assured that there will be no disruption to live game services. “At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects,” the company added.

Expressing disappointment over the way the details of the GTA 6 reached fans and players, Rockstar Games asserted that the company’s work on the Grand Theft Auto will continue to go on as planned. The company further mentioned that it will come up with an update in order to introduce the GTA 6 properly. 

The company stated, “We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned.”

Adding about further action, the company in the official statement said, “We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready.”

Reportedly, the hacker who leaked the GTA 6 gameplay videos online, accessed them via a Slack account of an employee of Rockstar Games. However, the process of requesting to take down the videos from social media platforms had already been initiated by the company. Although, the amount of total leaked data remains undisclosed from the company’s end.

In one of the leaked videos, a female protagonist named Lucia could be seen robbing a restaurant, visiting a strip club, and having a poolside conversation. Also, the setup of the video suggests the game be based on the theme of Vice City. Recently, the company has started rolling out credits on the GTA and GTA V pages and has changed the title to "Thank You" which is considered as an indication that it might halt the development of GTA V in consideration of the upcoming updated version of GTA games.

In addition, there is no official statement regarding the release of GTA 6. However, it is expected to be released in the year 2024 0r 2025. Earlier, some reports had claimed that the gameplay videos posted online were of older versions of the game. But the official statement puts a full stop on the contemplations.
