From superheroes like Batman and Superman to terrifying villains such as the Joker and Darkseid, DC has given us some of the most popular and loved characters of all time.

DC Films generally focus on dark stories, with some kind of a tragedy in the life of a superhero or a villain, such as in Batman and Joker. And that’s actually what fans like the most about DC, each character’s dark past. After all, both Batman and Joker are the biggest hits in the industry.

Justice League became one the most known group of superheroes. With the best arcs and comical instances in DC, as compared to its counterpart, Marvel; it has a darker setting. With villains that have always been pushed aside by their strong characters.

How has 2022 been for DC so far…?

DC Universe started 2022 by releasing its first TV series – Peacemaker season one. This action comedy-drama stars John Cena as Peacemaker, a character who embodies Christopher Smith. DC picked up the story where the Suicide Squad left and received an 8.4 IMDB rating.

However, fans were waiting for the big release, The Batman. In March, the movie was released. Robert Pattinson portrayed the role of Batman. He faces a serial killer known as the Riddler while uncovering corruption linked to his family in Gotham City. The Batman box-office collection reached $770.3 million with an IMDB rating of 7.9.

Upcoming DC Movies in 2022

DC has always been known for introducing various characters of superheroes and supervillains from its comics. In 2022, DC is coming up with some more new superheroes. They are all set to present Black Adam to the audience. DC’s upcoming characters and movies are a point of discussion globally. Recently, Warner Bros. announced a merger that is the latest shockwave in their efforts to bring the DC Multiverse to the big screen. Black Adam isn’t the only upcoming release this year. Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Batgirl are also on the list. 

1. Black Adam 

Black Adam is a highly popular character from the DC comics. Therefore, since the announcement of a movie on Black Adam, fans are eagerly waiting for it. Under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra, actor Dwayne Johnson will play the role of Black Adam. Earlier the movie was scheduled to release in March but pushed to July and then October for some unknown reason which was quite disappointing for the DC fans. However, DC later confirmed and rescheduled Black Adam’s release date to the 21st of October this year. The wizard Shazam chose Black Adam as his successor due to his purported moral purity because he is known as Teth-Adam (i.e., Mighty Human). A reprint of this story appears in Shazam!

2. Shazam: Fury of the Gods

Under the direction of David F. Sandberg, DC will release another superhero movie, Shazam: Fury Of The Gods this year before Christmas. It is a sequel to Shazam, released in 2019. Most of the cast is the same and there will be a continuation of Billy Batson’s story in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Shazam AKA Captain Marvel will be fighting the daughters of Atlas in the new movie. As a result of the successful opening of Shazam!

3. Batgirl

Yes! You are guessing it right. It’s the time for Batgirl’s throttle. After the success of Batman, people may often think or wonder what if they get to see Batgirl on the big screen. Indeed, we have TV programs. However, the audience is ready for its substitute, and the spotlight of having Batgirl will be unique. Batgirl’s premiere date is in December (but as per the sources it can also be delayed). Also, as per the predictions – this movie can become an all-time favorite for movie buffs. With Batman’s successor in the big film – DC has been building up the Wayne team one by one. Does this mean another fan favorite movie is in the Warner Bros. basket list? It will be amazing to see the stories become live-action films.

What is DC Forecasting for 2023? 

We have gone through each movie that has been confirmed this year. However, as DC fans, we should know the DC movies timeline and look into other stories in the queue with a full-blown DC action film. These are either in development or rumored projects coming out. For the time being, we would also like to share the 2023 list of DC Movies that are in the development phase. These movies are set to begin their production on a later date –

DC Universe has planned to unleash some of the greatest projects this year and the next. This has been a turning point. It is the first time DC has planned to release three movies in a year, with a bunch of TV series seasons and animation. We’ll have to wait to find out whether Batgirl will be coming out this year or not. As we are halfway through the year and cannot resist the level of delight from DC. The time has come to watch our favorite characters in action and see their story as a live-action. It would be great to watch Shazam, Black Adam, and Batgirl on the big screen.
