What Color Does Red And Yellow Make When Mixed?

When we mix the Red color and Yellow color, it will give the result an Orange color.

The color wheel includes three primary colors. They are Red, Yellow, and Blue which is called RYB. A mixture of these three colors or combinations of any of the two colors provides different shades of color. So, here Red and Yellow are primary colors and it gives the result Orange which is the secondary color and is called a tertiary color in the RGB color model. 

If you mix 50% of red paint and 50% of yellow paint exactly then it will give orange or sometimes it will give brown-orange depending upon the nature of the other two colors. This is because there are different shades of Red color and different shades of yellow color. If you exactly pick the default red color i.e., #FF0000 as in Hex Code or RGB(255,0,0), and the default yellow color i.e., #FFFF00 as in Hex Code or RGB(255,255,0) then it will provide the expected orange color without having the shades of other colors.

There are different shades of Orange. Some of them are Dark-Orange, Brown-Orange, Coral, Tomato, Orange-Red, etc., The Hex Code for default Orange is #FFA500, and the RGB() combination for default Orange is RGB(255,165,0). 

The name orange came after the name of the fruit orange. It came from the Old French word and this word is also referred to as yellow-red, yellow-orange, and sometimes as different shades of red. The color orange is associated with different terms such as emotions, eagerness, danger, amusement, fire, youth, etc., The color orange is associated with nature such as fire, some leaves and trees are of orange colors, Fruits such as Orange, Papaya, Mandarin, Tangerine, Vegetables such as Carrot, Pumpkin, etc., and other natural minerals such as Limonite, Akaganeite, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, and Jarosite. The color orange is widely spread all around the world. Even some countries' flags are consisting the shades of orange color. Even the rainbow consists of an Orange color. In many countries, the color orange is also considered a spiritual color such as in Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., This proves that the orange color is widely spread across different people of countries. 

Lighten the Orange Color:

There are some ways to reduce the orange color to light orange color. This can be done in the following ways.

1. Orange is a mixture of two primary colors – Red and Yellow. Here the color Yellow is having a light shade when compared to another primary color Red. If you feel that the Orange is darker than you expected and you want to make it to a lighter shade of Orange then you will mix a certain amount of Yellow color in the Orange to have the desired amount of expected light-orange color. It also sometimes looks yellow-orange.
2. Another way is to add White color. A mixture of a certain amount of White color with the Orange color turns it into light-orange color. Here, you don’t need to add Yellow color because the mixture of White color with an Orange color is enough to have the expected light-orange color.

Darken the Orange Color:

There are some ways to darken the orange color to bright orange or dark orange color. This can be done in the following ways.

1. Orange is a mixture of two primary colors – Red and Yellow. Here the color Red is having a dark shade when compared to another primary color Yellow. If you feel that the Orange is lighter than you expected and you want to make it to a darker shade of Orange then you will mix a certain amount of Red color in the Orange to have the desired amount of expected dark-orange color. It also sometimes looks red-orange or brown-orange.
2. Another way is to add Black color. A mixture of a certain amount of Black color with the Orange color turns it into dark-orange color. Here, you don’t need to add Red color because the mixture of a Black color with the Orange color is enough to have the expected dark-orange or bright-orange color.
