Nike manufactures shoes that are perfect for a wide variety of activities, including running, walking, playing tennis, and everything in between. You are free to explore and choose just those options that are most helpful to you. Running, working out, and playing a variety of sports are all enhanced by wearing shoes manufactured by Nike. They are simple to put on and provide the necessary support for your active lifestyle while remaining comfortable. For instance, Nike India has a catchphrase that is well known.

The motto “Just Do It” popularised by Nike was derived from the victim’s last words before being shot to death. If you’re anything like us, you’re just as surprised to find out this information as we were when we did. Dan Wieden’s presentation at Design Indaba 2015 in Cape Town, during which he discussed the tagline, shed light on the genesis of the term. Dan Wieden is one of the co-founders of Wieden+Kennedy, the advertising agency that is credited with the conception of the famous catchphrase.

The Back Story

In the year 1988, Wieden was doing his best to come up with a catchphrase that would become popular. Because he was so anxious about it, he stayed up the whole night before it was due because he couldn’t sleep. From a selection of five words, the one that jumped out at him the most was “Just Do It”.

The idea for the new Nike slogan came to Wieden when he had a conversation with a local resident in Portland, Oregon. Before being sent to prison, the individual had a history of criminal activity in this location, which was his hometown. When the executioner asked the criminal if he had any last words, the criminal said, “Let’s go for it”. The executioner then proceeded to execute the criminal.

Just Do It was a replacement for Let’s Do It.

“We don’t need that garbage”, Phil Knight, Nike’s co-founder, told Wieden and Kennedy. Wieden convinced him to trust him on this one, which became a huge success very soon. Both Nike’s tagline and their swoosh emblem helped the company surpass its competitor, Reebok, and grow into the worldwide powerhouse we know today.

As noted by many publications and journalists, the phrase connects individuals to today’s scenario and gives them hope that they, too, may achieve success by sporting Nike shoes and gear. The slogan must be short, straightforward, and memorable to be effective.

When it comes to modern life, you can’t avoid hearing the expression “Just Do It”, and for good reason. The slogan, which is often shown with the well-known Nike swoosh, is printed on tote bags, T-shirts, and billboards all over the world. What more appropriate approach is there to represent a sports brand than with a declaration such as this? It is as ambitious, aggressive, and direct as the athletes who are shown in Nike advertisements. It is as slim and powerful as they are.

Nike views the phrase as more of a brand identity or philosophy than a simple slogan. Spokesman Grasso adds, “We don’t truly believe in slogans”.

“It has been more beneficial for us to invite others into our worldview by sharing what we stand for. To that end, we are dedicated to serving and honoring athletes. For this reason, I believe ‘Just Do It’ has had and continues to have such a significant influence throughout the previous two decades and beyond. Our main purpose is reflected in it.”
