She along with her husband Bezos played a significant role in the founding of Amazon. As the dissolving of their divorce, Jeff had to pay her the alimony of 25 percent of the stake that he holds in Amazon valued at $38 billion.

So, eventually, Scott received approximately 4 percent holding in Amazon which was valued at $38.3 billion in 2019. It helped her become the world’s third most powerful and richest woman according to Bloomberg and Forbes Billionaires Index. She also got the rank of 22nd richest person in the world at the age of 49. She received 19.7 million shares of Amazon for the 4 percent stake. After Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, it is the world’s second-biggest divorce that has ever happened now!

While dissolving her marriage, Scott signed a Giving Pledge in 2019, in which she promised that she would donate more than half of her net worth to philanthropy and non-profit organizations in order to help poor, homeless, and underprivileged people. She is said to be a believer in philanthropy and helping other people and for this reason, she often donates to NGOs.

Till now she has donated to various organizations that focus on racial equality, LGBTQ+ equality, democracy, and climate change. She has donated $12 billion from her net worth to over 1250 non-profit organizations within 3 years after the divorce. She donated the largest donation till now to reproductive health care non-profit Planned Parenthood with $275 million.
