CEO of Visa

Visa is a multinational financial services company situated in Foster City, California which eases electronic funds transfer throughout the world. Visa-branded debit, prepaid and credit cards are very famous thus making Visa one of the most reputed and valuable companies. The card was first launched in the year 1958 by the Bank of America (BofA) under the BankAmericard credit card program which was the basic idea of BofA’s leader Joseph P. Williams and the in-house product development group, known as “Think Tank” a customer service research group. The particular card was launched by the bank in response to their competitor Master Charge, now Master Card. 

Visa has a vast global network, is an incredible brand, and provides an array of amazing technologies, and value-added services, along with a relentless focus on security. The company has around 6000 employees worldwide with four non-stock, separately incorporated companies, which include Visa Europe Ltd. Visa International Service Association (Visa),  Visa Canada Association, Visa USA Inc., etc. Apart from these Visa also has numerous divisions in the unincorporated regions, which include, Visa Asia Pacific, Visa Latin America (LAC), Middle East and Africa (CEMEA), and Visa Central and Eastern Europe. VISa’s revenue for the fiscal year 2018 was US$10.3 billion along with the annual revenue of US$20.61 billion, which was an increase i=of around 12.3% over the last fiscal year. The company also ranked on a good scale in the  Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by revenue. 

However, for taking the company to such a high-level everyone in the company has worked very hard and the current CEO of Visa Alfred F Kelly Jr is working very hard for the same. 

Starting of His Tenure In VISA

Alfred stepped into the company in October 2016 after resigning from his previous company American Express where he worked from 1987 to 2010. Alfred joined VISA as Chief Executive Officer and then in the year 2019, April he was also elected as Chairman of the Board. Currently, he is also serving as the Board of Directors of Catalyst as well in VISA. He is a successful man and is also serving as Chairman of the Board of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and as a trustee of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Boston College. 

Personal Life and Starting of Career

The current CEO of VISA received his degree in Computer and Information Science (Summa Cum Laude) in 1980 and an MBA with Honors in 1981 from Lona College, New York. While completing his education he also served as an adjunct assistant professor and after the completion of his education, he also served at the same place for 13 years. Mr. Kelly started his career at PepsiCo Inc. where he worked for about 4 years from 1981 to 1985. There he held several positions in the department of information systems and financial planning and just at the age of 27 he was made the Head of Information Systems, at the White House and served there for about 2 years from 1985 to 1987. 

Although he got to work at many prestigious places, his main tenure where he reached heights was at American Express where he worked from 1987 to 2010, 23 years. While during this time he held several senior positions, which also included the position of President from July 2007 to April 2010. Furthermore, for a span of 4 years from  April 2011 to August 2014, Alfred took the role of President and CEO for the 2014 NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee in order to organize the Super Bowl XLVIII, while at that time he left the corporate world completely.

Besides this, Kelly has done many amazing things for the company is will be doing many in the future too.
