Gautam Adani Now World’s 3rd Richest Person, Surpassing Louis Vuitton Boss

Again breaking into the headlines, Gautam Adani who is the founder and chairperson of Adani Group has now become the world’s third richest person with a net worth of $137 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. 

Also, he is the first Asian to be in the top three, as per the list. 

Adani has surpassed Bernard Arnault, co-founder of and CEO of Louis Vuitton, and Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, both of them currently have a net worth of $136 billion and $177 billion respectively.

Notably, with this development, Adani is now only behind Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in the ranking. Adani is the only Indian as well as Asian to be in the top list’s top 10. On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries secured the 11th position on the list with a net worth of $91.9 billion. 

To note another interesting fact, even Ambani and Jack Ma, co-founder and former executive chairman of Alibaba Group, never made this far to the list.

Interestingly, while relating the value net worth’s value the Bloomberg Billionaires Index has mentioned that Adani with a net worth of $137 billion is equal to over 0.598 percent of the United States (US) GDP, 1.9 percent of the total wealth of the over 500 richest people in the world and 34.7 percent of over top 100 college endowments of the US.

Also, the 60-year-old Indian industrialist is the only person in the top 10 list who has recorded a significant surge in YTD (Year to date) change of over $60.9 billion which is a jump of over 79.6 percent. In the introduction part, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index has noted "Was a Mumbai diamond trader before he set up Adani Enterprises," as a fact. 

With Adani now being the largest port operator in India is a major development in his growth. Adani Group is considered to be the largest coal trader in the country. Adani Enterprises reportedly generated a revenue of $5.3 billion in the year to March 31, 2021, as per the Bloomberg profile of the world’s third richest person Adani.

Recently, Adani has been in the headlines for the announcement which revealed that Adani firms will be acquiring the 29 percent stakes in NDTV (New Delhi Television), which is an Indian news broadcasting company. 

Although, according to the standard sources the deal is now awaiting a nod from the Indian market regulator, the Securities, and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Earlier this year in April, Adani became the world’s 6th richest person overtaking Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page. At the time Forbes mentioned the business tycoon’s net worth at over $121.3 billion.
